This difficult to locate surface opening is located on the western hillside above the Shattuck Mine and not far from the 10th level of the Southwest Mine. The raise near the surface was driven at a forty five degree incline and became vertical for the last 40ft, before it intercepted a sulfide stope. The raise was driven by the Wolverine & Arizona Mining Company as part of their efforts to exploit a rich ore body discovered on the Warren Claim. This ore body was distant from their own shafts and was mined by leasing the Higgins tunnel.
