Red-Light District

The Norton House was Illegally run brothel on Main St Bisbee, Arizona

Out side the Red-Light District, The Norton House was Illegally run house for a short time during 1906.

From 1892 until 1917 a Red-Light district flourished in Bisbee. Seen as an unpleasant necessity it was accepted until a military camp was placed in Lowell during World War I. Federal regulations did not allow a military camp to be within three miles of a Red-light district and the community law-makers voted to close the district for the duration of the war. The ill-famed district never reopened. During its heyday the district was home to 100 girls and over twenty houses. The following list is of the documented houses in Bisbee and outside of Lowell. Including two that operated illegally for a short time out of the district.
