Ironclad Mine/Claim

This was actually an early prospected claim on Sacramento Hill and in March 1881 consisted as two shallow shaft/pits; one was 10ft. deep and the other 18ft. deep. They were owned by Judge Blair. Sometime later, the claim was restaked as the parts of the Stars and Stripes, South View, Sunny Side and Tuila sectional claims. By 1903 all of the property that made up the Ironclad claim was owned by the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company. Later, the Sacramento shaft, a main hoisting shaft was developed on the Stars and Stripes claim. This land was mined out largely, the Lavender Pit, although the small fragment of Sacramento hill remaining today is made partially of ground that was staked as the Ironclad
