Sinking initially, on the two compartment shaft started in 1917 and the first 80ft. was sunk by hand. By November 1917 a headframe and hoist hand been installed. In 1919 the shaft had reached a depth of only 245ft. In the 1990’s the shaft was open, but the timber had fallen out of the shaft. No buildings or equipment were at the site.
